Alf and Marilyn Allen received a Civic Award in 2013 for their commitment to the Wokingham Blind Club.

They are totally committed to the Wokingham Blind Club-100% reliable, very understanding, thoughtful and approachable to all the members.
The club has 50 plus members, either partially sighted or totally blind. The members have every confidence in Alf and Marilyn and know that they are there for them-they understand the personal circumstances of each individual.
They have run the Wokingham Blind Club for 10 years, meeting at St.Paul’s, monthly. They organise everything from the lay-out of the tea tables, to the entertainment, organisation of transport, and arranging treats
at Easter etc. They inform everyone about days out and escorted holidays.
