Andrew Slay received a Civic Award in 2008 in recognition of his membership of the Wokingham Lions Club where he was responsible for raising large amounts of money to help the needy in Wokingham and District. He was responsible for turning the Club round after its difficulties with recruitment and manning the various offices in the Club.
