About Keith John Abnett

Keith was born on 10th July 1945 in Maidstone, Kent to John and Eileen Mary nee Adams, was educated in Maidstone and, after a spell as an apprentice printer he joined the Royal Navy as an aircraft artificer in 1961. He served for 24 years in the Fleet Air Arm.

On leaving the Fleet Air Arm he had a number of jobs in the IT industry, owned a rural garage, worked for an environmental charity and was a member of the Heathrow Airport Advisory Board.

He joined the Town Council in February 1999 and served as Town Clerk until his retirement in 2011. During that time he saw the successful refurbishment of the Wokingham Town Hall.
