This is a silver mounted, military style walking cane with a capstan styled head mount inscribed:

“Garth Hunt Puppy Show 1925”

and with a later applied silver band below inscribed:

“Presented by Councillor Stanley L Bowyer (Mayor 1950 and 1973) to the Honorary Town Parade Marshall, Wokingham Town Council”

Also a further silver band below inscribed:

“Frank Pyke 1978 – 1995”

This cane was originally presented to the mother of Councillor Stanley L Bowyer in 1925 who in 1978 handed it to Mr Frank Pyke for his use as Honorary Parade Marshall to Wokingham Town Council. Upon the death of Mr Frank Pyke in 1995 his family asked that it be retained by the Council who would continue to use it for the reason it was presented.
