Rex and Joyce Baldry

About Rex and Joyce Baldry

Rex and Joyce Baldry were given a Civic Award in 1998 for their wonderful work for the Red Cross.

The following is an extract from the Wokingham Times: –

“The first ever husband and wife winners collected their individual awards together for their wonderful work for the Red Cross. Rex and Joyce Baldry are often seen at the Red Cross centre in Denmark Street where they offer invaluable help and advice to members of the community. Joyce said being recognised by the awards is very rewarding because it shows their work must have helped people. “We didn’t realise we had been noticed like that,” she said. Rex added “Thank you to everyone who has voted for us”.

Deputy Mayor, Cllr Tina Marinos, paid tribute to the couple for their work for the Red Cross. She also spoke about their work for the Fire Victim Support Unit, where they help people whose lives have been wrecked by fire. Cllr Marinos added “They are people who work in the community by always being on hand and encouraging others to volunteer by their example.”
