Moira Conway was given a Civic Award in 2004 for her 35 years contribution to Meals on Wheels . There follows an extract from the Wokingham Times in 2004: –

A Meals-on-Wheels stalwart of 35 years who has also worked on behalf of the British Red Cross and Wokingham Stroke Club. Mother of two, Mrs Conway, 70, has lived in Barkham Road, Wokingham, for the last 30 years.

She said ” I really enjoy going out and meeting different people and really appreciate that people have recognising my efforts. I’m out and about a lot which I absolutely love. “I’d like to think that I make a difference to people’s lives and I hope they get something out of it to.”

Mrs Conway has been an active volunteer, carrying out house to house collections for the British Red Cross for 35 years where she has helped with the annual Poppy Appeal. She started doing meals on wheels for WADE (Wokingham and District Associations for the Elderly) more than 30 years ago.
