Almshouses

About Almshouses

The single storey almshouses originated as a gift of John Westende in 1451. The adjacent Queen Victoria almhouses were built in 1887. All were demolished in 1978 and replaced by the Westende House and Queen Victoria House flats.

The associated photograph was taken in the 1950s.
