About Diana Brimblecombe M.B.E.

Diana founded The Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre which is a tribute to her love of animals and dedication to animal welfare. Many people will not have known Diana personally, but due to them having adopted an animal from her Rescue Centre, she will have touched their lives – and we hope this page will enable people to say thank you for all she did for the thousands of animals she help save. Diana will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her, and very fondly remembered by us all.

After moving into Britton’s farm in 1960, she converted it into an animal sanctuary and founded The Wokingham Animal Rescue Group in 1969, which later became the Diana Brimblecombe Animal Rescue Centre. Known as “Mrs B” by many, she spent years caring for unwanted, unwell and injured animals at her own home before generous donations and the hard work of many volunteers enabled her to set up the rescue centre in Hurst.

During the Second World War she drove ambulances and worked in factories. She was recognised for her tireless work caring for animals in trouble in 1999 with a Civic Award and in 2001 when she was awarded an MBE by the Queen for services to Animal Rescue.

Diana Brimblecombe passed away peacefully at her home in Wokingham on Sunday September 20 2015 just a few weeks before her 96th birthday.
