Main Hall Clock

About Main Hall Clock

This is a wall mounted, round plain faced clock contained in a plain wooden emplacement, the case being made by pupils of St Crispin’s School.

An applied polished metal plate is inscribed:

“Presented to Wokingham Town Council
by
William Van Straubenzee M.P
To commemorate his being made
An Honorary Townsperson
13-9-80

He also presented the two standalone display cabinets when he retired as Member of Parliament for Wokingham. It was hoped that the Town Silver could have been put on permanent display in them but insurance costs and security reasons prevented this. However, the silver was displayed in them on certain occasions i.e. Heritage Day and Civic Award Ceremony until recent years when bespoke cabinets were created in a downstairs room.
