The office of Alderman is now defunct in Wokingham Town Council having been discontinued in 1974, on the re-organisation of Local Government.
Wokingham Council still has one for display purposes, it having been presented to them by the family of a past Alderman.
It is almost exactly the same as that of the Deputy Mayor except that the hat is adorned with a black cockade.
