Tithe Barn Trowel

About Tithe Barn Trowel

A silver plated presentation trowel with turned wooden handle with inscription on the blade. Contained in a Royal Blue leatherette covered presentation case.

When the demolition of the old Tithe Barn Hotel in Glebelands Road was taking place, the contractors came across a large cement block inscribed with a date and some initials. It was presumed that it referred to the date of the erection and the builders of the original building. Messrs Fairbriar decided to include it in the entrance leading into the Flats being erected on the site and invited Councillor Mrs Ann Davis as Town Mayor to lay it.

It is inscribed, “Presented to the Mayor of Wokingham, Councillor Mrs Ann Davis by Fairbriar Ltd. 17th November 1995”
