About The Sandhurst Cup

A silver two handled cup and cover; vase form with bead mounts, reproduction Adam style. The body bright cut engraved with ribbon garland and fancy decoration, two oval cartouches, matching detachable cover with raised centre boss surmounted by a pineapple finial, matching collet foot. One of the cartouches and lower body engraved with winner’s name, the other cartouche engraved with the inscription:

‘B.V.R Sandhurst Challenge Cup presented by the inhabitants of York Town Sandhurst Camp July 1868’.

The cup stands on an ebonised wood plinth made by Rowell & Sons of Oxford with applied silver nameplate bearing the inscription:

‘Presented by 4th/6th Bn the Royal Berkshire Regiment (TA) on Disbandment 31 March 1967’.
