About Sara Richards

Sara Richards was given a Civic Award in 1998 for her involvement in the South East Berkshire branch of Cruse Bereavement Care. The following is an extract from the Wokingham Times: –

A compassionate women who has worked for years with the bereaved collected a much deserved civic award on Saturday. Sara Richards is a founder member of the South East Berkshire branch of Cruse Bereavement Care, and has worked for it for 12 years. One of her main jobs is working on the telephone, matching clients with the right councellors, and her caring approach is often the first stop in recovery. Mrs.Richards said she was “over the moon” to receive her civic awards. ” It is nice to have the work acknowledged,” she said. She agreed her award was an excellent opportunity to thank people who have helped her in the past. David Wakefield, chairman of the South East Berkshire Cruse centre, gave a moving citation about Mrs. Richards “passionate caring” for the bereaved in Wokingham and the “calm, competent way” she goes about her job. He added:”Although she has carried out the same role for many years, her enthusiasm for the job has not waned.”
